A Subtle Alchemy
Dan Lam joins Wynwood Walls Miami Art Week 2023 for The Power of Purpose

Miami, Florida - At a glance, A Subtle Alchemy, by Dan Lam glows and seems to breath on its own drawing in viewers to take a closer look. Originally a miniature sculpture of 2 inches, the piece was recreated as one of Dan’s largest pieces to date, standing over 8.5 feet tall. Made from metal, styrofoam, and epoxy - this sculpture was Dan’s first piece to be painted with automotive paint and finished with a chameleon pigment, so that from different angles the color shifts and moves. This November, the sculpture will be unveiled at the iconic Wynwood Walls art experience, The Power of Purpose, for Miami Art Week 2023. Joining other artists, The London Police, Greg Mike, and Lauren Ys - the week will celebrate cutting-edge art from renowned artists and muralists from around the world.

“When I first started working on A Subtle Alchemy, it was a personal challenge to take on a piece so large and experiment with new materials and paints. I wanted it to be fully immersive, so that the viewer could walk beneath it to really feel the piece and to be a part of it. I’m looking forward to launching the piece with Wynwood Walls and to join one of Miami’s most anticipated art events,“says Dan.

Wynwood Walls will host a sculpture activation and meet & greet with Dan and Ron English on Sunday, December 3rd from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Unlike any other sculpture within the museum, Dan’s artwork will become the first immersive installation for guests to enjoy.

“We are overjoyed to unveil Dan’s magnificent artwork for this year’s Art Week, as her piece also marks the first sculpture created by a female artist to ever appear at Wynwood Walls.” – Jessica Goldman Srebnick, lead curator for Wynwood Walls.
