Enrique Leyva is a photographer born in 1993 hailing from the culturally rich state of Oaxaca, Mexico. With a keen eye for storytelling, he embarked on his photographic journey at the age of 16, later immersing himself in the world of fashion.
As a photographer with brown skin, Enrique observes the flaws within Mexico's fashion industry, recognizing the reinforcement of hegemonic ideals. He is driven by a mission to reshape this narrative by celebrating diverse beauty in Mexico and beyond its borders. His work seeks to carve out a space for new narratives, drawing inspiration from his personal experiences and life stories.
He has exhibited in Mexico City, New York City, Milan and Argentina and has been published in Vogue US, Vogue Mexico, GQ, Esquire, Architectural Design, Teen Vogue, Texas Monthly, Wired. Some of his clients include Dior, Levis, Carolina Herrera, and Patrón Tequila.
