Jason Madara’s new personal project is a further exploration of his signature portraiture style. It all began at a meeting in Wildwood with Justin of the Jus Nice Sneaker convention where Jason presented his vision to spotlight its attendees.
In the sneaker world, individual drip holds equal weight to the shoes themselves. Jason portrays that here, personally scouting subjects with unique style at the convention and delving into a narrative that transcends mere footwear. The resulting images exude a lifestyle vibe that stay true to the expressive elements that define his beloved portraiture.
The project unfolded in two parts- one against a white background and the other in a moodier deep aqua setting. His time at Jus Nice led him to artist Caddy Mike, sparking a collaboration that pushed the boundaries of his creativity. The on-white portraits were infused with Caddy Mike's graffiti-inspired illustrations, adding an element of street culture. Together, these images resonate with the collaborative and community-oriented spirit at the convention.
Beyond the images, Jason is also creating a documentary short centered around Jus Nice. Stay tuned for more.
