In Shapes and Stories Underground commissioned by MTA Arts & Design with Grand Central Terminal, artist Marcos Chin celebrates the bustling Grand Central station in his dynamic temporary commission for terminal storefronts. Spanning two large street-front windows on 42nd St, the black and white illustration depicts New York’s denizens in perpetual motion, shopping and eating their way through the iconic transit hub. In exuberant color, the reconfigured artwork appears on the One Vanderbilt passage to Grand Central Madison, highlighting the abundance of retail and dining opportunities available throughout the building.
