Sebastian Nevols shot the trailer and key art for Semele, a new Royal Opera production of Handel’s darkly satirical opera starring Priti Wendi. Directed by Oliver Mears, the story follows Semele’s rise and fall as she’s seduced by Jupiter and targeted by his vengeful wife, Juno.
Filmed in Frankfurt and inspired by Italian horror noir, Nevols used top-down tracking shots and weighted camera movement to evoke tension, fate, and psychological unease.
