Stefan Ruiz photographed Hamilton and In The Heights creator Lin-Manuel Miranda for the Financial Times where it all began: at the northern tip of Manhattan near where he continues to live and work.
The shoot took place at the Sugar Hill Children's Museum where Miranda came to share his excitement for this year’s Uptown Arts Stroll. The festival began life as a one-day event in 2003 and has grown into a month-long cultural celebration across northern Manhattan’s West Harlem, Washington Heights and Inwood neighborhoods.
Success for Miranda has long been paired with a commitment to support the community and he continues to champion accessible art for all, not only for those of Northern Manhattan and the Puerto Rican community in which he's a part of, but also the arts community more broadly.
