Tristan Eaton x 'G.E.M.M.A.'

At the close of the week of NFTLA, artists Tristan Eaton and Shepard Fairey came together to celebrate their digital communities with a G.E.M.M.A. x “Degenerate / Regenerate NFT Holder party.

Shepard Fairey’s “Degenerate / Regenerate” to speaks to the  manual deconstruction and programmatic reconstruction of the generative artwork. The term “degen” is also refers to those exploring cryptocurrencies and new forms of exchange, commerce, and means of investing that don’t fit into the current traditional financial structure.“Degenerate / Regenerate” plays with these labels and concepts in contrast to the notion that digital scarcity and the perceived value of NFTs as legitimate art is still very much being questioned by many in the traditional art world.

Tristan Eaton’s G.E.M.M.A. is made from Eaton’s unmistakable combination of stunning portraiture and layered collage, taking a page out of his traditional practice to create this digital body of work which encompasses much of his work over the last 25 years. Eaton takes the work to another level by moving the decision-making to unbiased, collaborative software, meaning the possibilities are essentially endless. Each piece of art is completely bespoke, and each carries its own unique personality and identity, pulling from a catalog of Eaton’s most impressive elements.
